What is the best city in the whole country? Cape Town, Jo’burg, Durban, Pretoria or Soweto?! These are actually the biggest cities in South Africa. But are the cities with the highest population also the ones with the largest Facebook community? We searched for interessting and popular Facebook “City Pages” and these are our results. Cape Town blows away the competition:
1. I ♥ Cape Town
This Facebook page, which has more than 118.000 fans, is South Africa’s third most popular page, behind the Springboks and Gary the ToothFairy! The big community is very active and creates a lot of wall posts about Cape Town related things. A regularly updated blog which is connected to Facebook, fresh Youtube links and a lot of photos from Cape Town and surroundings provide an opportunity to spent a lot of time on this page.
2. Cape Town
This page was created by Afrika Ablaze and Glenda Jones Productions, the no.1 dance/entertainment company in the Western Cape. The page has more than 82.900 fans. Exceptional companies and talents are able to promote their events and fans can catch up on outstanding entertainment, events and gigs.
Our hint: change your default landing tab to your wall tab as it isn’t very inviting to see an empty page when there are no upcoming events.
3. I like Durban
“I like Durban” has more than 38.200 fans. The page was created by Citymob and “offers you unbeatable deals that’ll help you experience the best your city has to offer.”
4. I like Cape Town
Same idea as “I like Durban” but for all Capetonians. 32.400 fans like it.
5. Durban
Another Durban page. More than 27.300 people like this page. A lot of photos and posts keep you updated on what is going on in the city of Durban.
6. I love parties in Johannesburg
10.300 fans can’t be wrong. This page provides a good opportunity to stay up to date with parties and events in Joburg.
7. 365 things to do in Cape Town
This page offers you the best deals and cool ideas on what to do in Cape Town in 365 days a year. More than 8.600 fans have already joined the page.
