Today YouTube announced that you can now upload videos which have a length up to 15 minutes. So far it was only possibly to upload videos up to 10 minutes apart from powerusers who had a personal agreement with YouTube. The reason for that time limitation have not been the hardware resources but legal questions with copyright owners, YouTube says.
YouTube says: Without question, the number one requested feature by our creators is to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. We’ve heard you, and today we’re pleased to announce that we’ve increased the upload limit to 15 minutes.
To promote this announcement YouTube has started a competition called “15 minutes of fame” and encourages its users to make a personal 15 minutes long video of themselves and to upload it by August 4 with the tag “yt15minutes”.
YouTube will promote the best videos in a special section of its video platform. Use this chance and gain faim!
